Come to take me home again

♥♥♥♥♥

This week Papercraft Star is celebrating a 2nd anniversary !
Each of our design team is hosting a challenge, and this one is Sylvia's Challenge.

Sylvia decided on a Cool Drink theme.  Here is her inspiration photo ...

This card is also going to Tuesday Morning Sketches, with this great little sketch...

I decided on wine as my cool drink.  The Willamette Valley, where I live, now seriously rivals Napa Valley with their excellent wines.

I used page 182 from our sponsor, theHouseAcrosstheBay

My card ...

which includes a key to my wine cellar ...

Comic books and blue jeans

♥♥♥♥♥

Today's card is only going out to one challenge.

That is There She Goes, and here is the sketch they have this week ...

I only took a couple of small liberties with it ...

I missed making cards all last week while I was gone on vacation.  A stop at a scrap shop in Reno yielded me a slew of 6x6 books (nearly $70 worth!) which I needed NOT.  I kept my mojo going by thumbing through those books every chance I got.  Here I have made three cards since my return, not one was from any of those cute new books.   lol

My name is Reno

♥♥♥♥♥

I posted this picture last year, when we returned from our beautiful blue sky trip to Reno ...

and the caption said "sheesh, it looks like we are back in Eugene."

Well
ditto

Yup, new year, new trip to Reno, same old rain when we returned...

Today I have a very simple card.

The first challenge is at Just Us Girls with this inspirational photo ...

and out to a sketch challenge at Unscripted Sketches ...

and here is my card ...

Once it quits raining (if ever) I will take this over to my BF's house, so she (Rufina) and her DH Dan will have their invitation to come sit in our backyard.  We pretend we are having dinner, and we sorta do, but it is an excellent excuse to haul out our local wine, Oregon Blossom,
and
yak
all
night.

Papercraft Star 102 - White Wedding

♥♥♥♥♥

This week at Papercraft Star we have a white on white wedding card challenge !  I am the featured designer this week, and here is what I used from theHouseAcrosstheBay, our sponsor !!

I used one of the white orchids on the front of the envelope, and played a little bit with the color.

here is the inside of the envelope

and here is the card

I think that white on white cards are just about the most beautiful cards out there.

I made the envelope, without a template.  It is just a matter of folding.  The card itself is white stock with a spellbinder taking out the middle.  I inserted a very very old laser cut heart, that I have had in my treasures for years now.  The sentiment is DCWV, and the heart just a little charm.  This was really made from a lot of old things just hanging about...

Don't miss this challenge, white on white is so much fun !!

He's no friend of mine

♥♥♥♥♥

Today's post is going to Card Patterns - their sketch this week looked like this !

My card looks kinda like that ....

It seems like we often make cards that look so much better in real life than they do in a photo.  This card IS NOT one of those.  It definitely looks much better in a photo.  How   does   that   happen.

Papercraft Star 101

♥♥♥♥♥

Papercraft Star opens its 101st challenge today !  Here is our inspirational photo ...

We don't often use a cute image at Papercraft Star - but isn't this an adorable picture !

I tried to capture the colors from the photo.

Our theme is Father's Day, but since my dad passed earlier this year I made a husband/father card instead.  I used a "king" theme to pull it all together.

I used a brayer and an ink on my TH folder to create the "king" card.

Another easy challenge at Papercraft Star this week - hope to see you there !

Design Paper - DCWV, K & Co, Tim Holtz

GD at IBSIC !

♥♥♥♥♥
Today's card comes from my guest designer spot over at Inspired by Stamping Inspiration Challenge.  I am completely delighted to be their guest this week - it is a fairly new challenge, but one that has everything I love !
Here is their sketch ...

and my distressed card ...

Everything is pretty torn up - as I was going for a shabby look.  I did some wet embossing on the edges of the dp, and used a couple of colors of mixed media ink.  I also used, for the sentiment, a small version of a digital from theHouseAcrosstheBay etsy shop, that fit beautifully with the design paper.
This is a sketch I know I will use again.  Stop by IBSIC this week, and join us for the fun !!

Queen roller girl

♥♥♥♥♥

This afternoon's post is a simple sketch from Just Us Girls ....

and my very simple card ...

Now, I did not notice until just now, someone at K & Co spelled "marvelous" incorrectly.   I hate when that happens.  Guess I will live with it, but grr.  I have another sentiment in my drawer from Cosmo Cricket that spells "kindness" as "kindess", which is another grr.  I don't like paying $$ for this stuff !!

OK, enough gripes.    but grrrr

Sometimes it all comes together

♥♥♥♥

Today's post is a quick and easy tip for displaying your tags.

Take an old frame you have from your garage.  (or basement or attic, you know you have a couple of these...)

On the back, screw in small screws  - I did four on each side.
Twist wire around the screw on one side, and string it across.

Clip up your tags on your wire !

I used Tim Holtz bulldog clips,  but of course you can use paperclips, or teeny clothes pins.

This took me about 5 minutes to make, and I was thoroughly proud I did not spend $28 to buy the exact same thing at Pier One.  It did not cost me anything, as I already had a frame, 8 screws, and some wire.

My dad made the frame for me many years ago.

I think it turned out exactly as I had hoped it would.
