TKJ - Adding wax to your work !

♥♥♥♥♥

Today's tutorial from The Kraft Journal is about waxing.   I have always loved the look of wax on an image, but I thought it was a complicated process.  I was wrong !

Here is what you will need:

A little hot pot (I use this little pot ONLY for waxing) I paid $2.97
Some beeswax - I paid $5.00 for this jar, a little goes a long way
A finished image (today I am using an inked and stamped tag)
A foam brush (you will throw this away) I paid less than $.10
A heat gun
A craft sheet

Add a little bit of the wax to the pot, and plug it in.  It will only take a minute to melt.

Brush the wax over the image in smooth even strokes, trying not to overlap.

Use your heat gun to remelt it, leaving a smooth surface.  Let it dry.

Add a ribbon and you are done !  The finish will look soft and antiqued.  Start to finish the whole waxing project takes less than 5 minutes, and you will LOVE the look.  If you are looking for tags, don't miss the Kraft Outlet - you will definitely find what you want !  Thanks for stopping by today !  I hope you will give this easy project a try.

Papercraft Star 151

Papercraft Star has the prettiest photo this week for our inspiration ...

My colorful card ...

I used the colors from those icy cool drinks !

With Dom still limited in his mouth feeding, Spencer and I have been making him lots and lots of smoothies from the wonderful fresh fruit available here in June !  I thought we made the best smoothies in the world, but Spencer doubts such a grandiose claim, and said

No, but we make the best smoothies in Oregon !!

The Kraft Journal 126

♥♥♥♥♥

This week The Kraft Journal is featuring

Felt, Twine or Burlap !

I created this special gift beginning with a CD sleeve.  These sleeves are so sturdy, and the packaging can be its own wrapping paper too !  I added a file folder tag to the top, using the word "family" from the Chit Chat Word Sticker collection.  I adhered some design paper, and some fake negatives, along with a Card Sleeve Envelope, placing a small Manila Shipping tag inside.  The small tag was inked, and an Apothecary Sticker  adhered, with some Film Strip ribbon as a pull.  The design paper was stamped with "photographs" and "treasured".  Finally a frame with a photo stamp from the Lost and Found Salvage Sticker book was attached, and the sleeve wrapped with twine and a button.

I really really liked how this turned out, and am thinking these CD sleeves with photos on the CD would make wonderful gifts.  I am planning to make a few more !

Cashin' in my bad luck

Today's post is a card just for fun !

It has been a tough couple of months, well longer than that I guess. (Thank goodness blogger allows scheduling ahead for all design team stuff!)   But Dom is close to returning to work (despite one set back that required a new drilling for his feeding tube) and I am looking forward to making a whole lot of cards !

Of course, just because I wasn't making cards doesn't mean I didn't buy stuff !!

nooooooooooo

Today's post is going to two different challenges.

The Kraft Journal 125 - Just 4 Him !

♥♥♥♥♥

This week, at The Kraft Journal, we are featuring special things that are ...

Just 4 Him !

This was pretty simple for me, as I had planned to make Dom a mini book for his long stay in the hospital.  Want to see the whole thing ?

Here we go !

The book began life as a Bo Bunny mini.  I added a couple of charms and some fiber to the rings, but just a couple.  I included some Black Burlap Ribbon, which I have used up now (*sigh*), what a cool product.

This was our wedding day, and I think you can decipher the decade !  Dom had a huge, and I mean HUGE afro, can you see it ?  A couple of Kraft Outlet items I included here were the Love Ink Rubbing, and a Hear Ye Hear Ye Banner sticker.

Jan Del Bone
In 1990 we took our first trip to Walt Disneyworld, with our daughter, and nephew, Joe.  Here I included two appropriate Adage Tickets, and a Journaling Ticket, along with some Washi Tape and my favorite, the Natural Hemp Cord

Our daughter was indeed, a beautiful bride. One of my favorite memories of this day is Brie and Joe whirling on the dance floor. The Lille tag is inside a Glassine bag, and again we have some  Black Burlap Ribbon.

Not pictured, but inside the envelopes are Hang Tags, with some more Washi Tape.

Our daughter was named Oregon Golfer of the Year 2012, and this is one of many of her trophies.  On the envelope is a "shine" rubbing, and  Washi Tape.

Dom with our rascally grandson, Spencer.  I included some family jokes on this page.  The Card Sleeve Envelope includes another Hang Tag, and the OUI on the right is from the Salvage Stickers book.

All the photos are copies, made into sepia tones, and covered in wax.  That seems to give it a softer and more aged look.   I haven't included all the additional supplies I used here, as there were so many, but would be glad to answer any questions about them.

Dom's nurses and doctors enjoyed the little mini too !  It was different from a regular get well card, and personalized him as a patient too.

You are probably making a Father's Day card for someone you love - why not link it up at The Kraft Journal,  ??  We would love to have you !

The Kraft Journal 124 - Clean and Simple

♥♥♥♥♥

This week, at The Kraft Journal, we are featuring

Clean and Simple !

I began with the always adaptable Kraft Lunch Box Blank Note Card.  I embossed the design paper, and stamped a sentiment, then layered it on a border of Buff Ivory Card Stock.  I lightly covered the flowers with a little ink, and used Washi tape to complete the inside.  The whole card can be made in about 5 minutes, and would be useful as a template for a set of stationary.

All Kraft Outlet supplies linked above
Also ...
Design Paper - Kaisercraft
Stamp - Hero Arts
Pink Ink - Mix'd Media
